The Flannel Years
Treason Gallery is pleased to announce Karen Mason-Blair: The Flannel Years, running
from June 4-12 at the Piranha Shop. Press reception will be held on Friday, June 3 from 6pm-9pm.
Opening artist’s reception will be held Saturday June 4 from 7pm-11pm.
Treason Gallery, in collaboration with the Piranha Shop, will be showing the world premiere of Karen
Mason-Blair’s photographs of grunge music icons. With over a decade of photos taken of some of the
most influential musicians of the early 90’s era, Mason-Blair provides never-before-seen imagery of
a lost time, giving her viewers a new, refreshing take on Nirvana, Pearl Jam and others. Mason-Blair
presents an unhindered narrative into the lives of some of Seattle’s greatest musicians.
Working and touring with Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains during the early days of their
formations, Mason-Blair was granted an all-access pass to the individual personalities of each musician.
The Flannel Years will highlight thirty-three of her greatest photos, mostly in black and white.
The Flannel Years resonates nostalgia and the overall tempo of the grunge scene.
